ROLES: Battlemage, Burst Damage, Off Tank, Physical Damage, Debuff

Description: The Death Knight is the only Melee Intel hero. He makes up for the lack of range by having the highest Strength out of any mage and can act as a decent off tank when needed.

PROS:

  • Highest strength of any intel character
  • Decent number of AOE spells
  • Has a good autocast buff
  • Avatar
  • Self invisibility
  • Summons
  • Teleportation

CONS:

  • Melee attack range (you have to get in close as a mage)
  • Using -Pickskills isn't recommended as you have 410 levels of skills.
  • You need corpses for all of your summons
  • You need to sacrifice bone dragons to use your avatar skill

Finger of Death

An evil finger capable of death and pain. When the Hero is Evil the Spell inceases in power and deals more damage to surrounding units.

  • FORMULA: (750 x ability level) +(2x intelligence)
  • MANA COSTS: Levels 1=15mp, 10=275, 20=800, 30=1300, 40=1600, 50=1800, 60=2000, 70=2200, 80=2400, 90=2600, 100=2700

Review: Finger off Death is a single target ability, but it also deals some aoe damage. This makes it useful against both mobs and bosses. Great all around damage skill.

Note: it seems to do the aoe damage regardless of whether or not you're evil.

CORPSE TOUCH

Death drains the complete aura from his victim, causing death and loss of mana.

  • FORMULA: (1000 x ability level)
  • MANA BURNED: (100 x ability level)
  • MANA COSTS: levels 1=20mp, 10=200mp, 20=400mp, 30=600mp, 40=800mp, 50=1000mp, 60=1500mp, 70=2000mp, 80=2550, 90=3050,100=3500mp

Review: This is a mana burn ability, not mana drain. Useful against bosses and other enemies with mana. Otherwise it's just a decent single target damage spell.

Note: all 4 of Death's abilities max out at 100. this means you'll have to choose not to max 1 or more of them if you want to learn his spellbook abilities. I'd pick either this or decaying aura to keep at level 90 (or both at 95).

DECAYING AURA

Souls of the dead eat away at the enemy, reducing the nearby units armor and causing them to receive more damage.

  • ARMOR REDUCTION: (-1 x ability level)

Review: Great support skill, this allows you and all your allies to deal more damage to nearby enemies.

DEATH'S NOVA

Casts an undead ring of death around the hero, causing death and suffering.

  • FORMULA: (500 x ability level) + (2.5 x intelligence).
  • MANA COSTS: levels 1=10mp, 10=100mp, 20=200mp, 30=450mp, 40=700mp, 50=950mp, 60=1000mp, 100=1000mp

Review: A good aoe ability with a excellent intelligence damage and low mana cost. Use this for all your mobbing needs.

DEATH'S ABILITIES

When Death claims more souls he becomes more powerful, granting him additional abilities.

LEVEL 1:

DEATH STRIKE

Strikes with a wave of unholy death which eats away at it's target, ignoring spell resistances.

  • Formula: (3x intelligence)
  • Damage Type: Hero
  • Special: Ignores spell resistance/immunity
  • Cooldown: 20 seconds. Mana Cost: 700mana

Review: Not too great early on, but the ability to ignore spell immunity is great against bosses later in the game.

LEVEL 2:

GROUND OF EVIL (level 1)

Creates Blight within the target area acting as healing for most undead unit. The blight will cause corpses to be created. Allowing them to be summoned.

  • Summons: 2 Bandit corpses

Review: This helps provide corpses to summon your bone dragons. The bone dragons can also use animate dead on the corpses to good effect.

LEVEL 3:

BURNING DESIRES (level 1)

Covers the target in hellfire, increasing their power to immense levels.

  • Damage Increased: 20%
  • Armor Increased: 20
  • Life Regen/sec: 100
  • Duration: 60 seconds. Cooldown: 60 seconds. Mana Cost: 1000mana

Review: Great all around buff for yourself or your allies. Be sure to use it when you have the mana.

BUG: tooltip says 40% damage increase.

LEVEL 4:

MANA SHIELD

Activates a magical shield that surrounds the hero. Absorbing damage by sacrificing mana.

  • PASSIVE: 35 damage per point of mana.

Review: 35 damage per point may sound like a lot, but mana shield doesn't take armor into account, so you may end up taking much more damage to your mana than you would to your health. And once you're out of mana you're a sitting duck. Use your own judgment on when this is worth using.

LEVEL 5:

SUMMON BONE DRAGON

  • Summons: 2 Bone Dragons
  • STATS: 90,000hp, 1250mp, 60 armor, 3001 dmg, 300 range. (Demon armor, Unholy Dmg).
  • Abilities: 20% Crit x2, Animate dead
  • Duration: Permanent. Cooldown: 180 seconds. Mana Cost: 2000mana

Review: Pretty Useful summons. Make use of your ground of evil ability to get corpses for these guys.

BUG: Tooltip says 1 Bone dragon.

LEVEL 6:

BURNING DESIRE (level 2)

Covers the target in hellfire, increasing their power to immense levels.

  • Damage Increased: 25%
  • Armor Increased: 50
  • Life Regen/sec: 200
  • Duration: 60 seconds. Cooldown: 60 seconds. Mana Cost: 1000mana

TELEPORTATION

Teleport to allied units and structures anywhere within Brenallia. If teleporting into dungeons or interiors,you must target an allied hero.

  • Cooldown: 45 seconds. Mana Cost: 2250mana

Review: This is just real handy for moving around. especially if you die during a boss fight and your friend is still alive. This initial level has a lengthy cast time that disappears when it upgrades.

LEVEL 7:

GROUND OF EVIL (level 2)

Creates Blight within the target area acting as healing for most undead unit. The blight will cause corpses to be created. Allowing them to be summoned.

  • Summons: 5 Assassin Corpses
  • STATS: 23,533hp, 22 armor, 596 dmg, Melee range. (Heavy armor, Direct Dmg).
  • Abilities: Hide.

Note: ignore the tooltip about wave damage. This doesn't do damage.

LORD OF THE DAMNED (level 1)

Sacrifice your dragons to become the lord of the damned, Unleashing hidden powers withing. You must first summon your bone dragons to perform this ability.

  • Damage Increase: 3000
  • Armor Increase: 50
  • Max Life Increase: 75,000
  • Spell Immunity
  • Duration: 45 Seconds, Cooldown: 300 seconds, Mana Cost:4500

Review: Kind of annoying needing to sacrifice your dragons. Other class get avatar without the gimmick. Still pretty useful for tanking when you need to.

LEVEL 8:

LORD OF THE DAMNED (level 2)

Sacrifice your dragons to become the lord of the damned, Unleashing hidden powers withing. You must first summon your bone dragons to perform this ability.

  • Damage Increase: 6000
  • Armor Increase: 75
  • Max Life Increase: 125,000
  • Spell Immunity
  • Duration: 45 Seconds, Cooldown: 300 seconds, Mana Cost:5000

DEATHNOIR

Souls of the dead come from the underworld to spread death and darkness before the end in four devastating waves.

  • Damage Per Wave: (3x Intelligence)
  • Waves: 4

Reviews: Deals a nice 12x Intel damage. Looks pretty cool too. Use as it comes off cooldown.

LEVEL 9:

BURNING DESIRE (level 3)

Covers the target in hellfire, increasing their power to immense levels.

  • Damage Increased: 35%
  • Armor Increased: 100
  • Life Regen/sec: 300 
  • Duration: 60 seconds. Cooldown: 60 seconds. Mana Cost: 1000mana

SELF INVISIBILITY (level 2)

Turn invisible for a duration of time, If you attack you become visible again.

  • Duration: 60 seconds. Cooldown: 60 seconds. Mana Cost: 500mana

Bug: this is the same as level 1. It just costs more.

SOULLESS (level 1)

Death is a soulless being with eternal power, granting huge attribute bonuses to the hero

  • PASSIVE: +1000 stats, +25 Armor, Max Athletics

Review: Very nice power boost. Enjoy it.

LEVEL 10:

GROUND OF EVIL (level 3)

Creates Blight within the target area acting as healing for most undead unit. The blight will cause corpses to be created. Allowing them to be summoned.

  • Summons: 3 Daemonic Infernal Corpses
  • STATS: 301,250hp, 100 armor, 20501 dmg, Melee range. (Solid armor, Unholy Dmg).
  • Summons: 6 Hell Hound Corpses
  • STATS: 100,525hp, 34 armor, 4551 dmg, Melee range. (Heavy armor, Unholy Dmg).

Note: ignore the tooltip about wave damage. This doesn't do damage.

TELEPORTATION MASTERY

Instantly teleport to allied units and structures anywhere within Brenallia. If teleporting into dungeons or interiors, you must target an allied hero.

  • Cooldown: 20 seconds. Mana Cost: 2250mana

SOULLESS (level 2)

Death is a soulless being with eternal power, granting huge attribute bonuses to the hero

  • PASSIVE: +2000 stats, +100 Armor, Max Athletics

SEVEN HELLS

Unleash the darkest magic to ever be seen. Send your victims through the seven layers of hell and let them bare witness to the evil that will consume us all.

  • Damage Per Wave: (2xintelligence)
  • Duration: 7 Seconds
  • Cooldown: 80 seconds.

Review: death's ultimate ability. Deals a lot of damage, but I'll have to check if the channeling leaves you too vulnerable against attacks.

Death's house location is a cave in the Northeast of the Ancient Daemonic Temple region.

Evolution

The Death Knight's Evolution Location is inside the Temple of Evil. Bring the Ultimate Orb of Evil at level 400 to transform into the Reaper.

Turn Good

The death knight needs to buy Blood of Cleansing from the Traveling Merchant.

Turning back to evil requires him to talk to an acolyte east of the desert.
